Commencement Programs

New candidates in research degrees must complete a mandatory Commencement Program in their first year of study. The program has two components: (1) an introduction to University-wide resources and requirements for all candidates which is delivered as a one-day presentation called the "Central Commencement Program"; and (2), a component delivered within your Faculty called the "Faculty Commencement Program".

Commencement Program for New Research Candidates - 2012

The Central Commencement Program (CCP) for new research candidates for Semester 1, 2012 will be held on Friday 24 February 2012 in X5B Theatre 1. The one-day program will run from 9:30am to around 4pm with registration starting at 9am. Lunch and morning tea will be provided. All commencing and currently enrolled students who have neither attended the previous sessions nor completed the online version are invited to attend.

We highly recommend that all commencing students attend the CCP in person as it provides an opportunity to meet key staff within the University as well as other commencing research candidates. However, for those who cannot attend on the day, it is possible to complete the program via Macquarie's online learning website, iLearn. The recorded lectures may be downloaded and listened to at your leisure and do not have to be completed in one sitting.

How to access the Central Commencement Program Online

Note: You must be an enrolled student in order to access the CCP Online.

  1. To enrol in the CCP Online, click on the following link: Central Commencement Program Online
  2. Enter your OneID username (MQ followed by your student number, eg. MQ12345678) and password to log in to iLearn.
  3. Enter the enrolment key hdrccp.
  4. Once enrolled, you can access the CCP Online at any time through the Online Units link on the Student Portal of the Macquarie University website.
  5. Once you have listened to all the lectures and completed the CCP Online, send us an email on hdrfuture@mq.edu.au with the subject line CCP Completed and provide your name and student number. Your completion will be verified and noted on your student record, and an email confirmation will be sent to you.
