Accepting your scholarship
When you are made an offer, you will be sent an official letter of offer along with Conditions of Award for your scholarship and an Acceptance (of offer) Form. The Acceptance Form should be returned as soon as possible to let us know when you intend or wish to start. If you wish to defer your start to another semester, you need to request this in writing to email@example.com and cc: firstname.lastname@example.org. Requests to defer your start date will also, usually, require the support of your proposed supervisor/Faculty. It may not be possible to defer a scholarship offer to a later semester since funding for the scholarship may not be available at a later time.
Living Allowance Claim Form (LAC)
If you are offered a scholarship you will usually also be sent a Living Allowance Claim (LAC) form (also downloadable at the HDR Scholarships Forms and Conditions webpage) to get your scholarship stipend payments, if applicable, started. On your first day on campus, or as soon as possible, you need to bring or send your completed Living Allowance Claim (LAC) form, signed by your supervisor, confirming the start date for your living allowance, to the Higher Degree Research Office (HDRO). Your scholarship start date will usually be the same as your enrolment date (unless it is a scholarship only offer made after you have enrolled). You will need to supply your local banking details on the LAC form for payments to be directly deposited into your account by our HR department, according to a fortnightly payroll schedule. International candidates also need to supply their visa details on the LAC form for HR purposes.
Macquarie University has a fortnightly payroll schedule and it may take between two to four weeks for you to receive your first scholarship payment, depending on when HR are able to establish your payroll profile once your form is processed and sent to them by the HDRO. Any backpayments to your actual start date are usually made in your first payment. Once your HR profile has been establised, you are automatically set up with a HR online account for viewing your pay details each fortnight and to update your personal or banking details (note, you can only do this once you are enrolled). Your user name for your HR online account is the letters 'mq' followed by your student number eg. mq99999999, and your login password is the same as for your OneID password/Gmail account password.
If you need help with logging in or are having problems with your HR online password contact IT Help - Phone: (02) 9850 HELP (4357) (option 1) or Freecall: 1800 063 191.
